Media Rooms

on Tuesday, 24 March 2015. Posted in Home Theater

Media rooms and home theaters are an increasingly popular feature within a home. Two major benefits are that they boost a home's entertainment value as well as its potential resale value. A media room is designed to be a multifunctional space, and most media rooms are an upstairs family room or the basement man cave. What is great about a media room is that it is a wonderful way to spend time with your friends and family and yet showcase what your home can do. Between audio, video, and possibly having some home automation in the mix can create a fantastic entertainment area.

Popular locations for media rooms are places that are self-contained, quiet, and will not interfere with the day-to-day operations of the home when in use. Once you have decided on a location for your media room, it is time to start thinking about details for the audio-visual (AV) and design requirements. Also, internet access would be recommended in a media room, as streaming video and multi-player gaming are more popular features these days.

Choosing the right size TV or projection screen is a must—you don't want to overwhelm guests with a screen that is too big for the space, or feature one that is too small and does not provide enough cinematic feel. Ultimately, size matters for any media room—the room's dimensions will go a long way toward determining the size of the TV or projection screen needed, the scope of the lighting system, and the number of speakers required for your sound system. With any media room you want to get the most sound coming towards you. Many media rooms are open areas and again multifunctional, which means distractions can come around very easily. So as a homeowner, you want to make sure you are creating a space that is easy on the eyes as well as easy on the ears!

Now just think, you have the best entertainment area, but are having to turn on the lights, the audio, and the screen all separately. What if you could turn on everything with just one touch of a button? With home automation you can! Whether you want your media room to be more simple or wanting to go all out in a sports inspired theme, home automation can bring everything together perfectly and exactly the way you want it.

Home Entertainment: Audio Systems for any room

on Wednesday, 29 October 2014. Posted in Knoxville Home Audio

Last week we blogged about what screen and projectors would look best in certain home entertainment areas. This week we would like to take a look at what audio systems would be best in those home entertainment areas, too.

With any media room you want to get the most sound coming towards you. Many media rooms are open areas and multifunctioning, which means distractions can come around very easily. The best audio element for a media room would be a great sound bar. Sonos’ PlayBar is one of the best on the market, and is our featured product for this week. The PlayBar gives you amazing sound quality, and complements HD TV’s with richly textured HiFi sound. It provides you full theater sound for TV, movies, music, and video games. The PlayBar wirelessly connects to your home WiFi network, and can be controlled by free apps with Android and Apple.sonos playbar 2

Home Theaters are fantastic and can really bring the grand cinema experience right to your home. Whether you have a small soundproof room with nice recliners or the whole package with theater style sitting, a concession bar, and movie memorabilia; you have to have a great picture and amazing sound quality for that true movie theater experience. The ONKYO Home Theater Package with Dobly Atmos is a great audio system for any home theater. The package comes with everything you need from speakers, receiver, to a subwoofer. It brings 360 degree sound and makes you feel every element of a movie with Dolby Atmos technology.

Last but not least, Sonance Landscape Series outdoor speaker system is fantastic for some good outdoor entertainment. This system delivers perfectly even coverage and unbelievable sound quality though out any sized space. Sonance Landscape Series system is hidden completely out of sight, and is built to handle extreme weather conditions. With easy flexibility, you can direct the sound exactly where you want it, and not at your neighbors.

Home Entertainment: Screens and Projectors for any room

on Thursday, 23 October 2014. Posted in Home Theater

In our previous blog, we discussed how a home theater is a great addition to any home and can bring the family together. There are so many possibilities you could do with a home theater. So this week we want to discuss some great screens and projectors that can complement different areas within the home and provide amazing home entertainment.sony tv

A family room with cozy couches or a basement man cave can both be a great media room. A media room is a multifunctioning space within the home, and for this type of home entertainment space it is best to set up a beautiful screen. One of the best screens for a home media room is the new Sony 4k Ultra HD TV. Sony’s new TV is automation-ready with two-way IP communications. This means the TV can both receive commands and provide status feedback, like I’M ON or the VOLUME is 70%, etc.

Now, if you have a dedicated room for a Home Theater that is fantastic! There are so many screens available, but we really love any one of the Stewart Film screens. A Runco projector pairs greatly with the Stewart Film screen, and both products help to create a unique display and provide seamless movie watching.

Picture-8Lastly, we cannot forget some outdoor entertainment. Yes I know it is fall and getting colder day by day, but next summer you could be the go to place for those summer BBQ’s. Screen Innovations (SI) motorized screen and an Epson projector are two great products for outdoor entertainment. The SI screen is easily retractable and combined with the Epson projector can provide an amazing picture even in the brightest of light.

What is truly amazing about home theater entertainment is that any room or outdoor space can be integrated with any home automation system. For example, Control4 is our go to system for any home theater, home automation, lighting needs, etc.; and putting all that together creates a unified home entertainment system that could work easily with a push of a button. Not only a home entertainment system, but a whole connected home.

Now you can't watch a movie with just a picture, audio quality is a major compontent as well to any great home theater. We are far from watching silent movies in our technology driven world today. Can you guess what we might write about for next week's blog?
